Angioma / Campbell de Morgan Lesions
REMOVAL & TREATMENT
Service Description
Angioma or Cherry angiomas are also called Campbell de Morgan spots or senile angiomas (used when referring to their occurrence in older adults). An angioma is a common, benign (i.e. non-cancerous), skin growth made up of blood vessels. They can appear anywhere on the body. The three most common types are cherry angiomas, spider angiomas, and angiokeratomas. Occasionally, an angioma may become irritated from external factors such as rubbing against clothing and will need to be removed to avoid further problems. However, since the majority of angiomas are harmless, most people have them treated for cosmetic reasons. What do angiomas look and feel like? Often multiple lesions Most common in adults, with the number of angiomas increasing from about the age of 40 Can develop on any body surface but are most common on the trunk Cherry angiomas are bright red, other angiomas can be blue and/or purple. Occasionally, and especially if traumatised, an angioma can turn black Raised; smooth to touch Usually less than 1 cm in diameter The removal procedure is generally tolerable, with minimal discomfort. Price is per session. Generally several lesions can be removed in each session, depending on size. All treatment times quoted are approximate.
